We're getting it back to where we were. It's a move in the right direction, and our team is growing. Indeed, Davis and Ragan have both managed to adjust their burgeoning pro styles back to the Olympic style, which usually rewards a high work rate and pressure over professional counterpunching and waiting for a big shot.
Davis has reached the lightweight semifinals with three impressive wins even though he says he's still not completely in sync with the amateur style. Davis arrived in Japan riding a wave of confidence from a start to his pro career, and he told The Associated Press he expected a gold medal to be "easy work. This is harder than I expected. All these guys come here to win gold. It's doing nothing but making me better.
Richard Torrez Jr. Recommended for you. The heat stays on: Earth hits 6th warmest year on record. Now, stay in your room.
You have nothing. Like allways judging is a fucking shame.. AIBA should fuck themselves in the a…. Probably more fair than amateur boxing! There has been some silliness, but some really good fights too.
Now, go to your room. You make me sick. This is why parenting skills need to be re-evaluated. They basically gave Fraser Clarke a medal which is BS. Of course its an american ref who does it. He is not American. But for some reason he was chosen and they werent going to let him lose. Ha Ha Mike!! Bet if Clarke was an American, you would be supporting the decision.
Just for the record, his French opponent kept cheating with headbutts. Maybe you should watch the fight before making your biased opinion.
No he didnt. And the French guy had just beaten Clarke about a month ago at a previous tournament. Mike, he fouled Clarke twice with headbutts to Clarkes eyes, hence the reason for his disqualification. Figure skating was the same and they changed the way athletes are rated.. Amateur boxing needs to do the same..
Ask Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather how you feel when you work hard 4 years long and when you get robbed.. Please log in again. Teixeira is a high volume, pressure fighter. Semi-Finals Jalolov vs. Clarke - I want to see Jalolov show more urgency in the medal rounds as so far he has just gone through the motions, that being said we have to see if they allow Frazer Clarke to fight in the semi-finals due to his cut as Jalolov might get a walkover to the finals.
I hope this fight happens as Clarke will make Jalolov fight an honest fight. Semi-Finals Torrez Jr. Kunkabayev - Unless Torrez Jr's cut that was sustained during the Pero fight gets worse or his chins shows ill-effects, Torrez holds every advantage over Kunkabayev, with the biggest being a weaponized pace, that will more than likely be the difference.
We're very close to an Olympic rematch between Jalolov vs. Torrez Jr. This will be interesting to see, and the winner of this bout will have earned their way to gold medal round. As this will see two of the best fighters in this division doing battle for a spot in the gold medal match. Semi-Finals Namiki vs Krasteva - Namiki to me is a clear favorite as Krasteva is coming into the medal rounds with a shaky performance, as Namiki is steadily improving.
A solid match-up, but I think we see Japan in two bouts for gold medals in this Olympic Games. Irie is a slick boxer, who fights well on the outside, and is very focused on a specific plan in each fight. Petecio, a southpaw, you can see is heavily inspired by Manny Pacquiao and is master of closing distance.
Jones USA vs. Hong CHN - Hong is big, and strong, but stiff and not cordinated. Jones should be able to show the difference in technical ability as we set forth for an interesting gold medal match that looks to be Surmeneli vs. Price GBR vs. Fontijn is a fighter who overwhelms opponents with volume and pressure, Price is a smooth boxer-puncher, who in my eyes has yet to make one wrong move in the tournament yet. Magomedalieva ROC vs. This will be a contrast of styles.
The FOX telecast which saw every single main card bout, changed the week of the fight happened, saw also an upset in the main event. Michael Coffie might have something else to be tried of than his age being brought up before every fight, as Jonnie Rice, a late-replacement for Gerald Washington, and Las Vegas, NV gym veteran, stopped Coffie in five rounds when Coffie reacted poorly to a punch and made a maneuver the referee deemed not a boxing move and waved the bout off. The bout showed me a lot.
Vito Mielnicki Jr stopped hour late replacement Noah Kidd in two rounds, after James Martin, who beat him in his last fight, missed weight, as Mielnicki did so in-front of a packed crowd screaming his name. Mielnicki Jr. Both Spencer and Martin missed weight, as Spencer came in two-and-a-half pounds over, and Martin came in lbs, four pounds over weight for his scheduled rematch with Vito Mielnicki Jr.
Spencer, and Martin would then decide to fight, which turned out to be a fairly even bout as their styles neutralized each and the punch totals provided painted an accurate picture as Martin outthrew Spencer, but Spencer landed the cleaner punches.
