The Shamrocks lead the series and have won 14 of the past 15 meetings. Jeff Houk, a St. Xavier-Trinity rivalry has had attendance dip in the past decade. Only the meeting, which matched the Tigers against the Shamrocks, featured teams with a worse combined record. Horton said he first caught the rivalry bug in , when the Shamrocks posted an victory. At the time, the Tigers led the series We were blue-collar, and St. X were the fancy, rich kids. It was the perfect rivalry. We always thought that St.
X thought they were better than us. The schools have produced memorable moments in the years since, combining for 37 state championships. Ed Mayer played for St. X in the contest, a Tigers victory that was played at Manual Stadium.
Mayer later had three sons play football at St. X and himself went on to officiate several St. X-Trinity games. One of the most memorable results in the series came in , when the schools met in the Class 4-A state final at old Cardinal Stadium. Chip Mattingly was a senior linebacker for the Tigers and recovered a fumble to set up the winning score.
X won both meetings in , including a victory that secured its most-recent state championship. The Tigers led the series after that win, but the Shamrocks have since dominate. Our players understand the expectations and embrace them. We have a great new head coach and some other pieces added to the coaching staff. This is a team filled with young talent and some inexperienced upperclassmen who are going to be working as hard as possible!
As we grow throughout the summer and season, we think there are going to be a lot of people surprised at how good we can really be. The Momma Rocks Organization includes all of the moms and dads of football student-athletes, trainers and managers. With the help of great restaurants, generous families and the support of all of our proud parents and fans, we are able to provide meals to the boys.
We feed the boys on Wednesday nights throughout the season. We provide special treats during the season and Pride Week. The Momma Rocks ensure that travel meals are provided to all Trinity Football teams for road trip games. We reciprocate for visiting teams so they have a meal on their way home. We celebrate and honor our Seniors and Coaches each season. For more information or to contact us about donation and volunteer opportunities, please email us , message us on Facebook or Twitter.
With your continued support and donations, we can achieve our goals. Thank You! GoRocks begreaT. Jan 13, Athletics , News , Trinity News. The Rocks will exit the tournament with the loss.
